Summers now about halfway through and the new school year is just around the corner. This means different things to different people. If you have a parent that sending their child to school, there is no doubt you have some fear in mind. There is nothing wrong with that, in fact it is quite normal. You have raised your children and done everything in your power to ensure they are in a safe and productive environment. Once they go to school it is up to them to make sure they are safe. They will no longer have the right to get there to make sure they take the right steps.

Most schools are quite large and can be regarded as a melting pot of many different types of people. Most people are there with good intentions of developing their lives and improve themselves. But there are always a few bad seeds mixed in the bunch. With various factors, such as drugs, alcohol, stress and this can lead to a potentially unsafe environment.

Most colleges do very well in protecting the students, but upon reflection, there is usually a few thousand students and maybe 100 guards trying to protect everyone. For the most part it works very good, but year after year, there is a large amount of the crimes committed on campus. It is about theft, sexual abuse and harassment just to name a few. The probability of a crime happens to your child are not large, but the risk is always there.

Do not get me wrong, I'm not trying to chase you all parents that there is. The point of this article is to make sure you're educated on your choices for keeping your children safe. If you read my previous articles then you know that I have on many major Self products. For today let me talk about two of them that can make the difference for your child if they were in an unforeseen situation.

This first self-defense product I want to talk about a personal alarm. They are almost never talked about that and really not known. They are very simple and very effective. If you do not know what a personal alarm is you let me in the field of education. They are a small electronic device that normally attaches to your keychain. They have a button on them to pressure in case of emergency. If the button on the device is pressed it an ear piercing alarm noise that can reach 120 dB. If you are not sure how hard 120db than just believe me, it's very loud. The point is to scare off an attacker and alert others that you are in trouble. They are extremely easy to use and highly effective.

The best part about personal alarms is how they are simple to operate. This allows you the remote control for your car to unlock the door, you can use a personal alarms. They have also not one of the negatives that could be part of the use of pepper spray or a stun gun. When you use both pepper spray or a stun gun, there is the chance that it can be taken and used against you. They are not bad methods of self defense they have a higher risk. So if you are a parent who wants a super easy to use Self product for your child, I recommend to them a personal alarm.

The following products, I would like to discuss defense is pepper spray. You probably have read many of the other things I've written about pepper spray. I will not lie, I'm kind of a nut when it comes to the stuff. It is very versatile and comes in a sea of various shapes, sizes, and strength. You can almost everyone you want and you're going to get some fantastic results.

I would also like to eliminate a number of myths for everyone. Many people believe that pepper spray is dangerous chemically modified substance that constitutes a large number of risks for everyone it is used. That is factually incorrect. Simply put, pepper spray on the bottom is an extract of red pepper, which is highly purified. It may be dangerous if the person it is used on repertoire has problems or if they are used in very large quantities, but most of the time it is perfectly safe.

By using a small bottle of pepper spray someone can an attacker on their knees of up to 15 feet away. If your child finds himself in a situation with an aggressive attacker they have to do is insist on the top of the bottle and they will prevail. The best part is it anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes to escape and find help.

Personally, I think that pepper spray is the best option for everyone at the university. The different shapes and sizes and is the perfect to take everywhere. Your child can use a small keychain bottle to keep on their keychain. They can even a slightly larger bottle to keep in their pocket, purse or car. There are also many other times including bottles, which resemble pagers, tubes of lipstick, or even walk weights. As you can see there is defiantly a solution for every student when it comes to pepper spray.

Both self defence products are very effective and both have their advantages and disadvantages. So if you have a child who goes out to colleges this year or even one that is already in college, I recommend to them a personal alarm or pepper spray. It will make you feel much better about the safety of your child and I am sure they will be.
